About Me

My Approach

I believe that the relationship between client and therapist is central to the success of therapy.

My approach to counselling and psychotherapy is primarily Existential-Phenomenological. This type of therapy has its roots in philosophy. Like other philosophies, existentialism provides a way to approach life.

It sounds complicated, but it is really about examining the way you live your life. At its core, this type of therapy is about coming to know yourself better, and about having a deeper understanding of your situation. It is also about exploring the possibilities and choices you might have, which in turn may lead you to make changes in your life.

I have also trained in both Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Integrative Therapy, elements of which we may use in our work together.

Therapy is a shared undertaking, and I am there to help you gain a greater understanding of your experiences. It is also an opportunity to look at sometimes very challenging and difficult aspects in your life in a safe and supportive environment, to share openly what you are feeling, and to be heard. Together, we may look at your situation from different perspectives, and explore the full range of possibilities and choices open to you.

I am there to work in partnership with you to help you to better understand yourself, your life choices, and your relationships.
